11/9-America, wtf have you done

I’m in shock.

America, I believed in you. I thought for sure that you would vote for Clinton. Maybe not even for her, but against a racist, misogynistic, xenophobic, islamophonic, homophobic asshole. And instead this happens.

If the young people, the “millenials,” were the only ones voting, things would have turned out differently. Everyone thinks we’re obsessed with social media, but if you’d actually taken a look at Twitter or Instagram over the last month, you’d know that we were paying attention to the presidential race.

You’ve disappointed young America. You’ve let us down by voting an idiot into office. I’m 17. I can’t vote, but I was counting on America to have at least some common sense, and it turns out that more than half the nation doesn’t.

If anyone didn’t vote for Clinton simply because she’s a woman, that’s sexist idiocy. It’s 2016, people, wake up. It’s about time we had a woman for president. Instead, what did you do? You voted for a culturally ignorant spray-tanned asshat.

If you didn’t vote because you “hated them both equally,” you’d better be regretting that decision now.

The youth, those “millenials,” we are the future. We may not be perfect, but we are united against Trump and we are going to work towards a better future. You’ve let us down, America, big-time, but we are the change. We’re going to endure the next 4 years, and in 2020 we’ll make things right.

p.s. For real, I’m so pissed that I couldn’t vote. And apparently that half the nation are idiots.

10/30-TV!!

It’s 1am and I actually do want to go to sleep, but I drank a giant bubble tea this morning and apparently I’m still caffeinated. And so I decided that this was the oerfect time to write about all the shows I’ve been watching. Here they are, in no particular order:

  • Arrow/The Flash/DC’s Legends of Tomorrow/Supergirl- I spent a month binge-watching these over the summer, all 4 seasons of Arrow, 2 of the Flash, 1 of Legends and 1 of Supergirl. I LOVE THESE SHOWS. (Supergirl did get a little repetitive after a while, but this year it’s so much better. And let’s just not talk about Arrow Season 4.) I haven’t read any of the comic books, so I had no backstory whatsoever when I started watching, but they’re the greatest.
  • The Big Bang Theory– I mean, everyone probably knows about this show. But I’ve been watching it for years now and it’s still hilarious.
  • Modern Family- see above description.
  • The Good Place- It’s new, funny and fluffy. Basically this one woman gets into heaven even though she wasn’t a great person, and chaos ensues.
  • Superstore– a group of quirky employees works at a big box store just go through the randomest day-to-day issues.
  • Timeless- I just started watching it! I think I like it because it’s like a realistic Legends of Tomorrow situation, where they time travel to save history. Also I’m pretty positive that the historian and the soldier are going to end up together. From episode 1. It seems pretty obvious.

Shows I’m looking forward to: Shadowhunters season 2, Stitchers season 3 (they just got renewed!!) and not really a show, but the big crossover event between the four DC shows is going to be epic.

5/17- TV shows

Some of my favorite shows have been cancelled 😦 Undateable and Faking It, to name a few. On the other hand, The Big Bang Theory, Superstore, Modern Family, Supergirl, and Shadowhunters have been renewed!! Guess I can’t have them all (as much as I want to).

But one of my favorites, Stitchers, is still on the fence and I might actually cry if it’s cancelled, because I’m so invested in these characters and their story. And I just adore the main characters- they’re super relatable and funny.

It’s kind of a sci-fi/crime/drama/comedy/romance. Basically there’s a girl, Kirsten, who gets recruited by the NSA to use technology to “stitch” into the memories of dead people, and she uses that information to solve crimes. Some other characters are Camille (the super sassy one), Linus (the awkward insecure one), and Cameron (head scientist who’s in love with Kirsten and Kirsten loves him and everyone knows it but they won’t get together for some reason and if they never get together and the show gets cancelled I’m going to freak out because like I said I’m super super invested.)

So I highly highly reccommend this show and I basically watched the first season in 2 days. You can start from the beginning and watch all previous episodes for free on the Freeform app! And if you really like the show and want to help save it, use #renewstitchers3 !

3/30- my internal commentary

mini-rant: ok so there’s this guy in my Chem class who’s a total douche and everyone knows it. But anyway he always wears like super-fancy clothes, like Ralph Lauren and other crap, because it’s not enough to act like a jerk, you have to look like one too. I mean, obviously.

Some of the douchey things he does are making fun of people who get the answer wrong (even if he doesn’t know it) and making a big deal about “what if I don’t have a printer to print out the assignment?” Mmkay yeah tell that to your $200 shoes. Your outfit probably costs the same as my entire wardrobe, and I have a good amount of clothing.

Which isn’t to say that all your clothes have to be cheap or whatever, but seriously this is just high school. Unless he thinks expensive clothes can make up for his face combined with his attitude (it can’t) or he’s trying to impress people with his (aka his parents’) wealth.

And he tries to sell the clothes off his body to other people. He literally took off his sweatshirt and tried to sell it to some other guy for half the price apparently, like what even. It’s ridiculous, and what’s even weirder is that the guy actually considered buying it. Keep your clothes, no one wants them. And if you need to sell them off to people for the money, maybe you shouldn’t buy such expensive clothing.

So that’s basically what was going through my head for the entire period…

3/14-it’s been a while

I’ve realized this blog has become less about music and more about me because I only feel the urge to write about my day when it’s been shit, and for the last week life has been holding steady at the “meh” level. Everything wasn’t perfect but it was pretty constant, you know? And then the last few days have just been getting progressively worse, like on Friday when it was my birthday but one of my friends who I consider one of the people I’m closest to, didn’t even tell me happy birthday over Facebook, and that just made me upset, like I don’t mean as much to her. And it’s, you know, that time of the month, and basically I’ve been eating large quantities of bread and pasta and chocolate and cake and I feel a teensy bit bloated. Not to mention that I tried to make a joke at dinner and then my dad made some snide comment about not joking about stuff I didn’t understand and I was like, Really? Just insult my intelligence, why don’t you? Of course I fucking understand, I’m just trying to be funny which I seriously don’t do that often. First you complain that I don’t talk at dinner, then when I do you make comments like that. Is it any wonder I don’t talk?

I’ll try and make some music posts hopefully this week. I’ve been offline for a while because school’s been super busy but I’ll make an effort to post more.

When I was really little, maybe kindergarten.

To expose people to music you might not hear on the radio, and to vent about my life.

11/26- thanksgiving

I’m thankful for music, for my family and our health, for comfort, food, and shelter, and all the amazing people in the world. It may not seem like it sometimes when I vent here, but I really am thankful. I just get distracted by my failed attempts to socialize. But I’m thankful for the friends I do have, because I think they’re the only ones who sometimes put up with my particular brand of awkward.

Did I mention I’m thankful for music?

  • All Of The Stars, by Ed Sheeran. This is one of the most comforting songs ever. And it’s by Ed Sheeran, so it’s automatically perfect. And it’s on TFIOS soundtrack. That movie made me cry.
  • Dead In The Water, by Ellie Goulding. It’s on the Divergent soundtrack, and it’s lovely and peaceful and one of my favorites.
  • Catch Me, by Demi Lovato. This is one of her older songs. I didn’t listen to a lot of her music until I heard this song on a friend’s playlist, and it’s by far my fav Demi song. (Even though it says it’s official, I’m pretty sure the video’s fan-made. But it’s a nice video, and high quality.)

Happy Thanksgiving!

11/11- random

Hello, happy Veteran’s Day! I personally do not know any veterans but they definitely should be celebrated.

Also, I have homework I should be doing but I’m not. I’m tired and slightly incoherent. You can tell by the way my thoughts I’m writing make no sense. I can’t even English (yes I just made that a verb go with it just go with it)

Some people have descended into Christmas fever already like Thanksgiving is just the doormat to Christmas but it’s not even Thanksgiving yet so I’m really confused by that.

Some random but good songs-

  • Ugly Heart, by G.R.L. I think this was the first song I ever discovered on Spotify and it’s super girl power because it’s about dumping a crappy guy. Lol by the time I date anyone I’ll be so desperate for human companionship I’ll probably just stick with the crappy guy.
  • We Got the World, by Icona Pop. One of my favorite songs I’ve ever gotten from a movie because Pitch Perfect 2 is the greatest and the lyrics are saying be true to yourself and don’t let other people bring you down because we got the world, you know? You don’t know. Oh well, I tried.
  • Girls Chase Boys, by Ingrid Michaelson. I think of this as kind of folk-pop? But yeah a lot of people know this song and it’s an older one and it makes me destress about my lack of a love life so yeah.

This post made no sense wheeeeeee

11/8- are you serious

are you serious, wordpress?!?! I had an ENTIRE post typed out and I went to copy a link from a different tab, and when I came back my ENTIRE POST WAS GONE. Like not even in my Drafts. So I opened wordpress in a new tab and I saw the little restore button but I couldn’t click on it because of my stupid top bar and I could not for the life of me scroll up. So thanks a lot wordpress. I’ve just wasted a good 20 minutes of my life. Are you freaking kidding.

And no, I’m not going to the effort of writing out that post again. Because this was supposed to be somewhere where I could express my thoughts freely in an easy manner, but you had to make life difficult and now I can’t even do that. You better fix that restore button thing. It’s a real problem.

I’m serious, WordPress. FIX THIS.

~the short awkward (and very angry) one

10/11- usual

This is what I listen to all the time, anytime, any day, any mood-

  • Let It Go, by James Bay. When I say I like “let it go,” people assume I mean Frozen, or “let her go” by Passenger (a really good song too.) The intro is amazing and it makes me wish I could play guitar (I can’t. My hands are too little.) I love the lyrics too, it’s super poetic. And Hailee Steinfeld did a great cover on Youtube, and I love that too.
  • Someone You Like, by Dove and Ryan/ The Girl and the Dreamcatcher. This is one of the original songs they wrote before they officially became the band, but it’s so cute. They’re adorable, their voices are so sweet, the lyrics are super cute and I wish this was on Spotify so I could listen to it all the time. Also, Ryan’s ukulele skills are amazing.

  • Never Be Alone, by Shawn Mendes. Whistling in the intro should be annoying, but somehow he makes it work. Catchy, best lyrics, pretty much perfect.
